Bioservice ICMAB
A biological characterization service supporting ICMAB research groups in cell-based and bacterial assays for advanced materials and devices.
Biological characterization for advanced materials research
The Bioservice ICMAB platform was created in 2020 in collaboration with ICN2 to support ICMAB research groups in biological assays with cells and bacteria.
This biological characterization service provides advice, training and experimental support for studies aimed at evaluating new materials and devices in biological environments.
Experimental work is mainly carried out at the Biolab Facility at ICN2, within the UAB research campus ecosystem.
Main Bioservice capabilities
The platform supports biological characterization studies for materials science research, from cell culture support to viability and antibacterial assays.

Equipment
Bioservice equipment supports microbiology, cell culture and shared biological characterization workflows.
Request Service
To use the Bioservice, contact the technical team by email. After a first meeting, the technician evaluates the experiments with the researcher and prepares a quotation with the proposed work plan.
1
Send your request to the Bioservice team.
2
Define biological assays and feasibility.
3
Receive the proposed plan and budget.
4
Work starts after budget approval.
5
Data and technical feedback are delivered.

Funding and acknowledgements
The Bioservice Facility has received funds from the CENanoTech project (2015 FEDER/S-16). In turn, the CENanoTech project is funded through the call for unique institutional R&D infrastructures launched by the Universities and Research Secretariat of the Regional Ministry of Economy and Knowledge of the Government of Catalonia, with funding received from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Operational Programme Catalonia 2014-2020. The project has also been co-funded by the Severo Ochoa Programme, granted by the back then Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (SEV-2013-0295).
