Direction

Strategic leadership, institutional coordination and participatory governance at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona.

Leading ICMAB’s scientific strategy and institutional development

The Direction of ICMAB-CSIC provides scientific and institutional leadership for the Institute. It coordinates strategic priorities, supports research excellence and connects scientific activity with the organisation, resources and services that make it possible.

The Direction team works with management, research groups, scientific and technical services, strategic units and the wider ICMAB community to advance the Institute’s mission.

Institution-wide communication and participation are reinforced through the General Assembly, which brings together the Direction, the General Manager and all ICMAB staff.

Executive support

General Assembly

The General Assembly is formed by the Direction team — the Director and Deputy Directors — the General Manager and all the staff of the Institute.

It provides an institute-wide setting for sharing strategic priorities, major institutional developments and matters that concern the ICMAB community. By bringing scientific, technical, administrative and support teams together, it strengthens transparency, participation and a shared understanding of the Institute’s direction.

Governance in practice

ICMAB governance combines strategic leadership with operational coordination, community participation and institutional accountability.

1 · Define priorities

Scientific vision and institutional needs shape the Institute’s strategic direction.

2 · Coordinate

Direction, management, research groups, services and units align people and resources.

3 · Share

Priorities and major developments are communicated across the ICMAB community.

4 · Review

Progress and emerging needs inform institutional decisions and future planning.
